Hey everyone,

As a registered physiotherapist approaching ten years of practice, I want to share the personal journey that has led me to my latest project, Clinic Wize. Over the last year, I have been working on a software that is revolutionising how we evaluate clinical performance and enhance clinic success.

Like many of you, I am passionate about the physiotherapy profession and the critical role we play in the healthcare system. This passion extends to my colleagues in chiropractic, osteopathy, massage therapy, and anyone else working in the rehabilitation space. We have the privilege of making a positive impact on our patients' lives, which is why I chose a healthcare career; a sentiment I’m sure many of you share.

As I became a business owner four years ago, I found myself increasingly focused on metrics to drive revenue, patient visit averages, and caseload utilisation - numbers that will be familiar to both clinic owners and clinicians. While these metrics are a few of many that are essential for business efficiency, they never felt quite right to me as a healthcare provider. The most important aspect of our work is helping our patients achieve their goals, yet we lacked a way to collect and evaluate these outcomes effectively. If we did collect outcomes, they sit in the patient file and are never looked at again.

During a conversation a few years ago, I realised something significant. I was discussing with a clinic owner the details of their associate clinician who was requesting a pay rise. We talked about margins, billings, clinic culture, and workload. When I posed a question about the clinician's effectiveness, the owner's response was vague, indicating uncertainty about the clinician's performance beyond being liked by patients and being busy.

That's when it hit me: why not create a platform that puts patient outcomes at the centre of everything? Why don't we evaluate clinician performance based on how well their patients do? Why don't we have had hard evidence of the results that we see every day and why don't we use them to enhance our clinic success? And so, the idea of Clinic Wize was born.

With Clinic Wize, my goal was to prioritise patient outcomes in my practice.

As a clinician, collecting and analysing patient outcomes has allowed me to evaluate my performance, identify areas for my development, and maintain a thriving caseload. It has made me a better clinician.

As a business owner, it has provided valuable marketing material and ideas for team education sessions, and it is a tool for evaluating my other clinicians. This has led to productive discussions on caseload management, compensation rates, and mentoring. Clinic Wize has solidified my clinic's reputation in the local community and has been integral to our growth and success.

The more information that I collect on Clinic Wize the more uses I find for it in my business and for myself as a clinician.

As our industry evolves, Clinic Wize will play a crucial role in our future. With decreasing insurance coverage, stagnant MVA and WSIB rates, and an abundance of treatment options available to patients, the ability to collect and report patient outcomes will be powerful on every level.

Clinic Wize is my way of giving back to a profession that has served me so well over the last ten years. It's about helping health professionals improve, aiding clinics in their success, and enhancing our healthcare system by demonstrating the impact we have on people's lives.

Patient outcomes are the most important aspect of our industry and let's start using this information to make our clinics 'wizer'.

Thanks for following along with our journey and I would love to connect with you further.
